Guruji’ S Blessings

In one of our scriptures, it is said, “man’s desires are numerous but god’s willingness is different”. Out of the ashta dikpalakas, Indra is the person who is the divine chieftain, Agni represents brightness, an avenue to the Devas to partake food, Kubera is in charge of finance, Varuna offers rain. Lord Sun offers light essential for vegetation. The most important person who is always with us but we do not remember is Lord Yama or Kaladeva. Everyday he is watching us and when the time comes he will take us. Divine men are immortal as they take nector; demons are killed by their own evil deeds. But men have to take birth according to ones past activities or accrued desire to fulfill the same. That’s why when a child is born, we go for prediction to assess how his future will be; whether health wise, financially, longevity wise, prosperity wise, he will bring glory or will be a threat to the family. In young age they want him to study well, obtain some qualification, don some reputed post, earn well, and protect the family. They can develop external personality, but inborn personality can be developed only through the grace of the Lord. That’s why in our scriptures certain rituals like nama ceremony, then annaprasanam and chowla are performed. Once these are done, he is only a vipra {born in that community}. Then, when once he becomes a boy, he will be initiated Gayatri mantram through upanaynam. He becomes dwija. {twice born} qualified to do rituals. When he attains the marriageable age, the search is on for a suitable bride, through horoscope.

In telescope, one can see a small thing as big; but horoscope is the vision of the Lord, whether she would be adjustable, accommodative, affectionate in all respects to the family, expected to enhance the glory of the family or a threat to demolish the glory. Here, like cricket, there cannot be match fixing - only matching. She can be a match stick to light the lamp of glory, and not light a fire out of fury. Hence the Lord is the jury. The progeny also should perpetuate the glory. Even in our epics, Sri Bheeshmacharya, the scion of the Kuru dynasty had to wait till uttarayana the northern part of the year for his end, as he is expected to go to heaven. If it is dakshinayana, southern part of the year, he will be reaching hell. That’s why they will give so much prominence to time. Normally when a new unit is launched, a pooja is performed to the Lord praying for prosperity. If the time is good, there will be prosperity. If the time is not good, there will be adversity.
Before the advent of clock, people used to assess the time based on the areas on which sun rays fall. According to astronomy, only astrology is invented - this is called the science of predictions, it will determine the movement of planets even calamities like quake can be predicted. The invention of clock is really a revolutionary step in the life of human beings. A wrist watch enables an individual to adjust his timings for his personal work; the alarm clock helps the student to be on guard and vigilant in his studies and adjust the time accordingly. The wall clock in the house helps every one to plan their work accordingly; the clock in the market place with four sides helps the school boys to go to school in time, the worker to work in time, to a traveler to catch his mode of transport and assess the time arrival and departure. A man should change from wrist watch to alarm clock a wall clock, finally a market clock. He must grow from a boy to a student, a family man to an international figure. We often say people commenting “For everything, time must come”.
In our family, everything is decided by Lord Sri Kukke Subramanya and Sri.Avani Maha Swamigal, our Guruji. The dictum Tenavina trunamapi na chalathi i.e., without his will no grass can move is quite apt. Like any other issue which we place before the duo, plead, secure their permission and then duly proceed. Before the departure to states, I had a wish to see and serve the Lord. Surprisingly, the offer came from a relative who wanted me to accompany her for the kshetra, for some seva to the swamy and the Lord’s grace was obtained. The second was that of Sri Guruji. From the beginning, I had placed this pledge before the Guruji who had asked for time. Before the interview, I had made enquiries. Guruji assured that it will be smooth sailing. Yes it was. The Lord and the Guruji were with me at the site of the interview. Simple questions simple solutions - here you go - Visa in hand. Sri Guruji had given about 10 dates for the journey and said before Vinayaka Chathurthi you will be there. Yes, we did celebrate Vinayaka Chathurthi in our daughter’s house. Even during security checks, the Lord and Guruji were left untouched giving company throughout the journey. Lord Subramanya will be there not only in the journey, but they were, they are and will be with me in life’s journey - responding to the call, protecting like a wall, recognized by all, holding us tight so that we should not fall.
