Firstly, this work is dedicated to the almighty, but for whom no existence was possible and no chance would have come for this trip. Secondly, this work is dedicated to my parents who were responsible for my birth and personality growth. Thirdly, the work is dedicated to my three children – SAK or MYTHRI - the inspiring trio for the trip. Fourthly, the book is dedicated to my two brothers and my two sisters–in–law who helped a lot in all respects and also my sister. Fifthly, the book is dedicated to that guru of five letter pilgrimage center –Avani, the spiritual supporter for the trip. Sixthly, the book is dedicated to Lord Subramanya who is accompanying me in my life’s journey. Seventhly, the book is dedicated to my daughter and son-in-law who gave the message - WELCOME. Eighthly, the book is dedicated to mother goddess of wealth whom we pray to shower the bliss on the entire family. Ninthly, the book is dedicated to navagraha nayakas, whose movement determines our movement, every moment. Tenthly, the book is dedicated to the Lord who played different roles in different avatars with the objective of establishing righteousness in the world, with the wish that the glory of the couple {SHUBHA AND RAJ} should spread internationally.

In 1974 a star emerged in our family signifying the emergence on the day we worship our Kuladeiva Sri Subramanyeswara. Born as a skillful, scholarly, simple, shrewd girl, she grew under the guidance of my father, a hard task master, honest yet human to mould a new sculpture through dedication, devotion, determination. Finishing the degree, she completed NIIT to join TVS. Then came an assignment in BLUE STAR, for the emergence of a star. On par with any other super star, alone, ambitious, adventurous, she took the challenge, got the visa, entered the plane, landed in Boston. Though the bosses were in ton, she made them stun by her ambition hard work, Herculean efforts, heralding the new challenge to become a hero holding the bull by the horn. Then following the maxim {Man becomes Alert MBA}, deciding that hard work is the mantra for a stay in US. When anybody questioned you, she said with guts - yes. It made her stay in the US not for her, but for us.

In 1998, a king emerged from Kerala, the abode of Sri Guruvayoorappan and Sri Aiyappan, Bhagavati Devi and Sri Shankaracharya. His dad is a highly learned foreign returned, highly toured scholar in books but simple in looks, kind hearted, affectionate, amicable, adorable Sri S. K. Iyer - when combined will become skier. Though he has reached Himalayan heights in glory, he is very humane with a child like heart. His wife is a mixture of obedience, omniscience, a Lotus named mother, whose looks bring reverence, speak poigantly and grace. The three trios Ram, Lakshman and Mani are parent-oriented, patient, prudent, putting all efforts to make the home a heaven. Two daughters, son in laws, glittering, gorgeous in appearance but generous to kins, great in ambition, grateful for services, reflect the family where reverence, royalty, reliance, peace, plenty, prosperity and poignancy are woven together. Ram and Lakshman are staying in the states. Proving the adage, an illustration ‘Orecallil rendu-maanga’ working in the same company. The local son and son in law are in Bangalore and the second daughter with hubby is staying in Dubai. The first daughter, a gem, Rajam - an amalgam of companionship, comradeship, champion of kinship is locally helping the parents, taking care. The daughter in law, a chemistry scholar is proving a synonym of scholarship in combination with son Mani a honey for many, a testimony for any occasion/a symbol. o f harmony

It is really a fortune of our poorvakarma that we have Sri Rajaram as our son–in–law: R= romantic A=affectionate J=joyful A=amicable R=revered A=adored M=magnanimous. In 1999, when the writer was worried about the independent staying of his daughter, bliss came in the form of Rajaram, who after long interviews decided to take the hands of my daughter in marriage. While Sri Krishna, his dad gave his consensus orally, Sri Krishna, the Lord gave accommodation. If June 30th is our wedding day, July 1st 1999 proved to be a red letter day cordiality openly nurtured. From that day, the couple has breathed a new lease of life to us, full of love and affection. I have struck the word #IN LAW# from the dictionary, retaining son. A sun in the horizon offering light, a person of impeccable generosity, a son giving to the person who is drawing pension ‘solace’ and daughter is there to cater to the need of her parents. Both of them are working for a common cause - the welfare of their parents. In America, ‘no work no life’. Hence, every time when they come to India on vacation, an occasion to remember identifying a location for stay by family members, speaking, singing, strolling and then depart to the states after a month in a happy state to have a pleasurable state of mind.

Around six times my daughter and son-in-law have come to India. The invitation to us was long pending. While problem is never ending in life always depending on the meager income warning us to guard our spending, last year (2005), Sri Raj’s parents had come here and it was a prelude for our journey. Mr. Raj and Shubha had seen that our second daughter’s marriage had an excellent performance and our son is seeking his studies in MBA in Mysore getting the guidance from the couple. India and States have many things in common. While we can compare America to the physical body longing for a happy, healthy, homogeneous life, India can be compared to the spirit in the man the seat of the Lord where love, affection, kinship, commitment, companionship and all divine qualities flourish. The marriage of the talent and labour of India with the natural resources of the states for utilizing for the common cause called welfare, the big brother seeking the assistance of the younger to assure mutual prosperity is not a new phenomenon. Hence the talent and human labour force flows like the Ganges, with full force, dancing, ducking, jumping, gushing overcoming all obstacles. Overriding all norms, ambitious like a daughter running to see her mother to take into he arms forgetting the strain, ignoring the sprain, withstanding the pain for the ultimate gain like the beautiful sunshine, 2006 proved to be a year of determination - Aug 2 proved to be a day of decision, Aug 18 proved to be a day of veneration.
The Lord and the guru of Avani gave the green signal for us to take up the journey. The night saw us reaching the airport with the support of our brothers, have rapport with the airport authorities, boarding the plane after onerous checks, ultimately clearing the decks, the next 24 hours full of fun, fantasy, faith, food, yawning, sleeping, of course, Bombay and London being checking points. The next day 6:30 PM, it was pleasing with safe landing and the daughter and the son in law greeting, then a delightful driving along the wide roads of America, the land of high buildings, bright lights shining, with pleasant enquiring, and happy landing in the abode of my daughter which is resembling an ashrama with happy surroundings, greenery smiling, peace prevailing, silence and satisfaction playing in a swing. The house is really a heaven proven by the presence of peace, poignancy, prosperity, plenty and gaiety, signaling the successful inauguration of the invitation, ending in the abode after a marathon air journey going to another world called sleep with my honey - undisturbed by any agony.
